NIPPON is the pendant of our ARK collection.

Shown here in its small format, it reimagines Japanese paper lamps through our signature blend of biopolymer and seashells. Paper-like in appearance yet capable of holding its own shape. Revealing a material that feels both rigid and fluid.

The natural pigmentation of our lamps comes from the seashells themselves. Seashells are collected from restaurants, grounded, and mixed with a biopolymer for 3D printing. Each material creates a distinct color variation and light quality.  

Oyster is the darkest tone, its deeper hue lends a more brutalist aesthetic while still casting a warm light.

Light concept

NIPPON'S layered sheets diffuse light both outward and downward, allowing it to function as both ambient and directional lighting.

The effect is determined by bulb choice, with higher lumens delivering brighter, more functional light, and lower lumens delivering softer, more atmospheric light.

Light source

LED bulbs only. The material requires low-heat lighting. Includes a warm white LED bulb: 7W, 806 lumens, 2700K color temperature.

With this light bulb, you achieve a softer, more atmospheric light suited for ambient lighting.

You can switch to a higher-lumen bulb for more directional light, for example over dining tables, or use a dimmable bulb to achieve both

Body

The lamp’s body is 3D-printed with a blend of biopolymer and reclaimed mussel, oyster, or scallop shells making it biodegradable in industrial composting. We don't use chemical additives that inhibit compostability.

Electrical components

The lamp holder, cable, switch, and plug are manufactured using other materials to meet the highest safety standards. The electrical components can be recycled according to local e-waste regulations.
